It only hides & disguises itself,
but when you strip everything
away, it still stings just as much
as the moment it was conceived.
In time, you realize you can no
longer be selfless. Yes, the pain
never leaves you, but I wouldn’t
trade the comfort & warmth I feel
knowing he is always beside me;
shielding me from the wrongs of
the world, granting me hope, &
lifting me off my knees. I wouldn’t
surrender it for anything.
